Historic Hotel Defuniak makes Grand Return

Grand Opening Friday, December 1st, 2017

DeFuniak Springs: After two years, DeFuniak Springs’ Historic District welcomes back the Hotel DeFuniak, featuring the Tropicana Club restaurant. The Grand Opening is Friday, December 1st, 2017 on the hotel grounds and all are invited!

Located at the corner of Hwy 90 & 8th Street, the 100-year-old building has been fully restored to its original glory and lore. The renovations capture the 1920’s Jazz Age with a vintage, New York-style décor, including the building’s original hardwood flooring. Hotel DeFuniak boasts 12 rooms, a fitness center, gaming parlor, and a cigar bar.

“[Hotel DeFuniak] opening again will bring a certain type of clientele to our city, like clientele who love history. It’ll bring people who are interested in coming to the city and dwelling for a few days.”   – Bob Campbell (Mayor of DeFuniak Springs, FL)

The new Hotel Defuniak invokes more excitement with the Tropicana Club, presenting the flavors, sights, and smells of the Caribbean and New Orleans. Reminiscent of Rick’s Café in Casablanca, the adjacent restaurant will delight patrons for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Originally built in 1920 as a Masonic Hall, Hotel DeFuniak is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in DeFuniak Springs. The grand opening continues Hotel DeFuniak’s long-standing reputation for preeminence in the region. The hotel has been heralded by the St. Petersburg Times, and the Florida Times, with TripAdvisor presenting the hotel with the coveted “Seal of Excellence”.
